Based in Johannesburg, but with branches all over South Africa, Dial a Bed specialises in bedding. Dial a Bed pioneered the concept of purchasing beds by phone call and delivery in South Africa. Dial a Bed is the sponsor for the Wits Dial a Bed Sleep Laboratory (part of the Brain Function Research Group at Wits University's School of Physiology).

Ellerines
Dial a Bed is an operating brand owned by Ellerines Holdings Limited. Ellerines runs a number of other brands including Beares (product range stretches from bedding to audio equipment, cellphones and furniture), Furniture City, Wetherlys (a furniture retailer) and Green & Richards (a furniture retailer).
Ellerines, in turn, is owned by African Bank Investment Limited, a company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. African Bank offers financing to customers shopping at the likes of Dial a Bed, and who want to buy on credit. African Bank was considering selling Ellerines, but that idea seems to have faded.
